Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Cambridge Research & Instrumentation (CRI) for a spatial light modulator (SLM). NIST is performing work in arbitrary optical waveform and we require a spatial light modulator (SLM) with >600 pixels arranged in a linear fashion that can be used in both reflective and transmissive geometries for amplitude modulation and phase shifting of optical waves. The following technical specifications are required for the SLM: 1) At least 600 pixels in a linear array 2) wavelength range 600-900 nm 3) 100 micron pixel pitch (spacing) 4) optically-aligned dual optical masks for simultaneous phase and amplitude control of optical fields (including polarizers) 5) SLM to be used in both reflective and transmissive geometries and should include removable reflective optic (bezel) for this purpose. 6) Integrated control electronics including USB interface with LabView software drivers This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100K). This synopsis is issued for information only. Based on our market research, CRI is the only source that can meet all of our critical specifications. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. Any questions regarding this notice shall be submitted in writing to Ms. Rima (e-mail preferred) by the close of business on March 13, 2007. Anticipated award date is March 15, 2007.
