Description
The Air Force Air Mobility Battlelab is exploring commercial/government off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) technologies for a deployment-friendly maintenance stand that combines the stability, mobility and size of the B-5 maintenance stand with the height and stair capabilities of the B-7 and B-1 maintenance stands. Currently several units deploy with both models of maintenance stands. The goal is to reduce the overall deployment footprint by using one multi-purpose stand. Solutions must be able to reach a height minimum of 36" and maximum of 192". The stand must be mobile, with the ability to move in small areas and turn 360 degrees on the spot. The stand must be deployment-ready in 1 hour or less and take no more than 2 persons to assemble/disassemble. When broken down, the stand should take up no more than 2 pallet positions (1 pallet position preferred). The stand must have a stair system to accommodate passengers on loading/offloading with baggage. Specifications of B-5 Stand currently being used: Height Min 84", Height Max 144", Platform Size 77.5" X 36", Capacity 500 lbs, Base area 109.5 X 97", Weight 770lbs. Specifications of B-7 Stand currently being used: Height Min 84", Height Max 192", Platform Size 72" X 48", Capacity 500 lbs, Base area 192" X 76", Weight 2320 lbs. Specifications of B-1 Stand currently being used: Height Min 36", Height Max 120", Platform Size 48" X 48", Capacity 500 lbs, Base area 120" X 72", Weight 1250 lbs. This RFI may be followed by a request for proposal to conduct a Battlelab Concept Demonstration. All possible offerors are strongly encouraged to submit information supporting this request. GENERAL AMB INFORMATION: The United States Air Force (USAF) Air Mobility Battlelab (AMB) is the Mobility Air Forces (MAF) catalyst for innovation across the spectrum of MAF missions and skills. We capitalize on links with industry, laboratories, academia and MAF professionals, to advance the USAF distinctive capabilities of Rapid Global Mobility and Agile Combat Support. The AMB strongly encourages partnering with companies to complete demonstrations through cooperative research and development agreements (CRADAs), cooperative agreements, or bailment agreements, but does have a small budget to purchase COTS/GOTS-derived hardware. GENERAL RFI INFORMATION: The purpose of this RFI is to obtain information about market information or capabilities for planning purposes as defined in FAR 15.201(e).
