- 1. Project Description National Security Technologies (NSTec) is the management and operations contractor for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) at the Nevada Test Site (NTS). The NNSA has tasked NSTec with treating Mixed (radioactive and hazardous) Waste in preparation for disposal. The NTS has generated waste streams that consist of radioactive and hazardous wastes that cannot be disposed of without required treatment. The waste consists of one population of sludge (9 drums) and one population of debris (20 drums). Treatment is required for the following reason: a. Rendering the waste Land Disposal Restriction (LDR) compliant with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requirements. 2. Statement of Work The objective is to have an independent vendor treat Mixed Waste at a permitted treatment facility to render it LDR compliant in accordance with RCRA regulations. The vendor will meet all regulatory requirements for handling mixed waste, and have an established quality assurance program that meets the requirements of 10CFR830.120. Contact the buyer for a list of the isotopic activities for this waste and the required documentation for RCRA constituents.
