- Description
- The United States Air Force (USAF) Force Protection Battlelab (FPB) is exploring commercial/government off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) technologies for regulating the interior temperature of vehicles. The overall goal of regulating the interior vehicle environment is to aid in the cooling of vehicle occupants. The technology may be used in conjunction with various additional protocols, to possibly include interfacing with human based systems, to regulate core body temperature and potentially extend the warfighter?s physical endurance and comfort level, as well as psychological well-being. Required Capabilities: 1) Must aid in regulating a vehicle?s interior environment, 2) Ability to operate using only existing vehicle systems (i.e. no additional battery), 3) Capable of operating in a deployed/harsh (i.e. Desert/Jungle) environments, 4) Requires minimal, if any, vehicle modification(s), and 5) Does not create additional risks to vehicle occupants (i.e. non-flammable, no increased thermal signature, non-toxic materials: inhalation/skin contact). The Battlelab is requesting information concerning mature or readily emerging technologies that meet the requirements stated above.
