- Description
- The government intends to seek a competitively bid for the procurement of temporary Shock Absorbing Concrete (SACON) Live Fire Shoot Houses and Grenade Trainer for Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Training Center, 29 Palms CA. A total of five SACON structures, three shoot houses and two grenade houses, and a walled compound are required. Range 210. Requires three SACON buildings and a portable SACON grenade house all inside a compound. The SACON structures will be set on pre-cast, spread footings. All walls will have metal brackets across the top for stability The compound will be a 100?x120? rectangle with 10? walls. It will have one 10? wide exterior gate, two exterior breaching areas for tanks made from sheetrock, plywood or SACON blocks and two exterior breaching areas for infantry made from sheetrock type material. Inside the compound there will be the following: - A one story T-shaped structure that shall contain one exterior door with mechanical breech capabilities, two interior doors with mechanical breech capabilities, four windows, and a central corridor. The structure shall not require a roof. - An L-shaped 2 story structure containing two exterior doors with mechanical breech capabilities, two interior doors with mechanical breech capabilities, seven windows, and a central corridor. - A five room single story structure containing one exterior gate 10? wide, four interior doors with mechanical breech capabilities and six windows. The structure will not require a roof. - A portable single story grenade house. It will contain two exterior doors used for breaching and two interior pass through entryways with doors also used for breaching, and two windows. This structure will be divided into a grenade throwing room used for grenade handling, room breaching, room entry and clearing in an urban setting. There will be a hallway adjoining the two clearing rooms. The grenade room shall have one room with rubber-lined walls to protect the SACON panels from exploding grenades. The grenade throwing rooms require a means of preventing the explosives from exploding close to the base of the walls, to prevent foundation wear. The exterior SACON walls of the grenade room shall be 10? in height and the hallway shall contain SACON panels at right angles to the interior walls to serve as added dropped grenade blast shield. The wall technology to be supplied must handle light weapons, particularly 5.56mm ball ammunition and have a minimum thickness to handle 2,000 rounds of 5.56mm ball ammunition in an 18? circle. The clearing rooms require breachable doors. No roof is required for the training facility. The SACON structure will be set on pre-cast, spread footings Range 111. Requires one portable single story grenade house with the same specifications as the one on Range 210. The sites for these training facilities will have a level ground condition, and the supplier will be required to provide a packed earth/dross pad where the training structure is to be erected. This structure must meet the current guidelines for existing earthquake specs. All buildings are to be considered non-inhabitable and temporary. Walls must be detachable for removal.
