- IDAHO NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS PREDESIGN INPUT FOR AN EXPERIMENT CAPSULE SHUTTLE IRRADIATION SYSTEM IN ITS ADVANCED TEST REACTOR FROM POTENTIAL SHUTTLE USERS. Announcement: Idaho National Laboratory (INL), operated by Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA) under contract with the Department of Energy (DOE) plans to conduct an information session with potential users of an experiment capsule shuttle irradiation system that will be installed in INL?s Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) during CY2008. This system restores a previous capability for short-term irradiations in ATR. The session will be held Thursday, February 22, 2007, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The session will include a presentation and discussion with qualified parties. There will also be opportunities for separate one-on-one discussions with qualified parties. To qualify, potential shuttle system users must provide a written statement of interest which includes the following: 1) company/organization name and address; 2) the name, title, address, telephone number and e-mail address for a point of contact; 3) a brief description of how the company/organization might utilize the shuttle system, e.g., isotope production, radiochemical analysis, research, 4) a non-confidential listing of possible target materials and any radioisotopes that might be present in the shuttle system as a result of your use (for non-disclosed materials to be considered, key nuclear, chemical and physical attributes will be needed for bounding design criteria purposes); and 5) a brief description of corporate/organization expertise and facilities relevant to use of the shuttle system and qualifications for providing input for its design. The statement of interest should be made by US mail or e-mail and should be received on or before February 15, 2007 at the following address: John R. Snyder, Ph.D., Advisory Account Executive, Technology Transfer & Commercialization, BEA, P.O. Box 1625, Idaho Falls, ID 83415-3805. E-mail is John.Snyder@inl.gov. Parties providing complete statements of interest will be notified via e-mail of the time and location of the general meeting.
