Description

The Headquarters, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), intends to solicit and negotiate a competitive contract for providing Rail Fleet Management Services which includes programming for collection, processing and distributio n of data, inventory data management, programmed maintenance and maintenance status management. Contractors will preposition empty rail cars, distribute and monitor the transit of empty freight cars, program and use an empty car distribution optimization program to meet operational schedules and timelines. The Contractor will maintain a fleet management website which is the primary source of data and reports for the Governments customers and commercial vendors providing other rail services to the Governm ent. *Notice: This is a full and open competitive Request For Proposal (RFP)., award will to be made on the basis of full and open competition from among all responsible business concerns, large and small, submitting offers. The North American Industry Classi fication System (NAICS) code _ 488210 Specialized Fleet Management Services, has been determined to be applicable to this requirement. This effort will be awarded as a Fixed Price contract with a one-year base period and four (4) one-year option year periods. The base year is expected to begin 1 January 2007. The solicitation is expected to be posted on or about 16 October 2006 with and expected closing 13 November 2006. The solicitation will be posted at the following website http://acquisition.army.mil/asfi (AFSI).
