- The U.S. Air Force is seeking sources that may be interested in participating in a potential acquisition for Personal Services in the near future. This Personal Services requirement is for a Chief Physicist. The following is a brief summary of the primary duties that the Chief Physicist would be required to perform under a resultant. This list is not all inclusive: The Chief Physicist would be accountable directly to the medical director of Radiation Oncology. The Chief Physicist would directs the Radiation Oncology physics program, including technical direction of the staff physicist, medical dosimetrist(s), therapy biomedical engineers and other physics support staff personnel. The Chief Physicist would manage the radiation therapy service?s Equipment Quality Control Programs at the direction of the Radiation Oncology Flight Commander/Chief. Qualifications: The potential candidate for this requirement must possess a doctoral degree (PhD or ScD) in Medical Physics or related fields from an accredited university. The candidate shall be board certified by the American Board of Radiology in radiation therapy physics or in radiological physics, or by the American Board of Medical Physics in radiation therapy physics or radiological physics. The candidate must have and maintain an unrestricted, active medical physics license from US jurisdictions and BLS certifications. In addition to the qualifications above, the candidate will be required to have the following Experience: Be current proficient in clinical radiation therapy technology and other support, as demonstrated by active practice of at least thirty-six months continuously within the last sixty months. Possess twelve months within the past thirty-six months of planning and quality assurance of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy. Direct clinical experience using Varian Radiotherapy Linear Accelerator, Multi-leaf Collimator Workstations, Electronic Portal Imaging Systems, Pinnacle Planning System (ADAC), IMPAC record/ verify system and fabrication of custom treatment devices. Meet the training and experience qualification of 10 CFR 35 to handle Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensed brachytherapy sources. Have experience with Total Body Photon (TBI) and total skin electron irradiation, Radionics stereotactic radiosurgery, prostate brachytherapy and modern 3-D treatment and intensity modulated radiation therapy planning systems. Have clinical experience obtained in a clinic which actively participates in federally funded groups such as but not limited to Southwest Oncology Group (SWAG)/ Gynecological Oncology Group (GOG)/ Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) protocols and familiarity with SWOG, GOG and RTOG dosimetry requirement s. Have experience in diagnostic radiological physics and health physics. Location: These services would be performed at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB (San Antonio) TX.
