Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) expects to pursue a follow-on contract to N01-ES-15478 awarded to the University of Washington, and as such is seeking sources capable of performing the requirement briefly described below. Contract objectives include 1) establish a catalog of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) in prioritized environmental response genes (ERGs) based on direct re-sequencing of selected genes; 2) use high-throughput sequencing technologies for rapid sequencing analysis utilizing a national sample repository for analysis of sequence variation in the U.S. population and make this data available to the scientific community via centralized public databases; 3) develop web-based tools to display estimated haplotypes and linkage disequilibrium patterns in human populations using the EGP data sets; 4) evaluate the population distributions of estimated haplotypes and identify evolutionary patterns among the human populations represented in the polymorphism discovery resource samples; and 5) mine the sequence variation in EGP genes to highlight potential functional coding or non-coding variants for further biological testing. Specific performance will involve re-sequencing up to a total of 120 gene equivalents (GE), 30 per year, from genomic DNA obtained from a sample of at least 96 ethnically defined individuals, data entry and validation. Potentially interested offerors may submit capabilities statements not to exceed fifteen (15) pages in length, excluding standard brochures, etc., for receipt by the agency within fifteen (15) days from the date of this announcement. Please submit information to: Thomas M. Hardee, Contracting Officer National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Office of Acquisitions, OM, P.O. Box 12874, 79 T.W. Alexander Drive Building 4401 Research Commons Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 The estimated release date for the actual solicitation is March 2007. The estimated receipt date for proposals is May 2007. NIEHS will establish the specific dates by future FedBizOps announcement. Electronic versions of the RFP will be available at http://www.niehs.nih.gov/oamb/rcb/rfp.htm. See note No. 26.
