Description
This Sources Sought is the initiation of a JAUS Advance Planning Briefing (APB)under Part 10 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and is NOT a Request for Proposals (RFP). The governmnet does not intend to pay for any information furnished pur suant to this Sources Sought. DO NOT CONTACT THE INITIATOR OF THIS SOURCES SOUGHT, Ms. Cheryl Daniels. Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems (JAUS) Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Technical Committee AS-4 Unmanned Systems The SAE AS-4 Unmanned Systems Technical Committee will conduct a JAUS Advance Planning Briefing (APB) on November 15, 2006. The location will be the Doubletree Hotel, 300 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, VA, 22202-2891. The APB will start at 8 AM and will fin ish at approximately 5 PM. JAUS is a widely accepted, standard messaging architecture for unmanned systems and is in use by military and commercial robotic systems. This event will be of interest to industry, academic, and Government developers of all types of unmanned systems There are several top-level goals for the conduct of the APB: Raise JAUS awareness for those not already involved. Brief attendees on the current state and future plans (Roadmap) for the JAUS standards. Invite companies/organizations that have user defined messages to submit them for potential inclusion into the standard. Have the JAUS experts available to answer questions. This JAUS APB will be conducted by the following presenters: Ellen Purdy (OSD), Enterprise Director, Joint Ground Robotics Steve Lowell, Deputy Director, Defense Standardization Program Jeff Kotora, Chair, JAUS Working Group Ralph Woody English, Chair, SAE AS-4 Technical Committee Robert Wade , Chair, AS-4A Architecture Framework Subcommittee Kathy Wienhold , Chair, AS-4B Network Environment Subcommittee Jeff Wit, Ph.D , Chair, AS-4C Information Modeling and Definition Subcommittee Parag Batavia, Ph.D, Chair, JAUS Experimentation Task Group Mike McNair, Senior Systems Engineer, AS-4 Technical Committee Dan Gehring, Vice-Chair, AS-4A Architecture Framework Subcommittee John Miech, Chair, AS-4A Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Task Group There will be no charge or conference fee to attend.
