- Description
- This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the ONLY solicitation; offers are being requested and a written solicitation will NOT be issued. This notice is being issued as a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for a Aerodynamic Particle Sizer (quantity required 1 each) The following describes the minimum specifications pertaining to the Aerodynamic Particle Sizer (APS): 1.2 General features 1.2.1. The aerodynamic size and the relative light-scattering intensity should be measured simultaneously. 1.2.2. The measurement range should extend from 0.37 to 20 micrometers 1.2.3. The instrument should measure aerodynamic particle size in real time using time-of-flight techniques. 1.2.4. Correlations for validating all aerodynamic particle sizes should be deduced from the synchronous measurements of relative light-scattering intensities. 1.2.5. Weak signals from the particle coincidence at or near the instrument's lower detection threshold should be reliably detected and rejected. 1.2.6. A front panel should display the particle size measurements in a real-time mode. 1.2.7. Calibration values should not be changed under the various conditions of the measurements by controlling the microprocessor-controlled volumetric flow control, the barometric pressure correction, and separate pumps for sheath and total flows independently. 1.2.8. Operation of the instrument and data process should be done with MS Windows- based program software. 1.2.9 The instrument must be compatible with a sample stream entering in gas-phase suspension. 1.3.0 The resulting size measurements provided by the instrument must not be dependent on a knowledge of the optical properties of the particulate material 2. Specifications 2.1 Aerodynamic Particle Sizer spectrometer with Software 2.1.1 Measurement technique 2.1.1.1 Time-of-flight of individual particles measured in an accelerating flow field with a single high-speed timing processor. 2.1.1.2 Coincidence detection achieved via correlation of aerodynamic diameter and scattered light intensity. 2.1.1.3 Data rejection at lower extreme via correlation with scattered light intensity. 2.1.2 Particle size range 2.1.2.1 0.5 ~ 10 microns:? aerodynamic sizing 2.1.2.2 0.37 ~ 20 microns:? optical detection (PSL equivalent) 2.1.3 Aerodynamic size resolution: 0.02 microns? at 1.0 microns? and 0.03 microns? at 10 microns.? 2.1.4 Display resolution 2.1.4.1 32 channels per decade of particle size (logarithmic) for total of 52 channels. 2.1.4.2 1024 bins of time-of-flight data (4 nsec per bin). 2.1.4.3 16 channels of light-scattering (log-compressed) intensity (displayed) for 256 channels of light-scattering data 2.1.5 Particle type: Airborne solids and nonvolatile liquids. 2.1.6 Maximum recommended particle concentration 2.1.6.1 1,000 particles/cm3 at 0.5 microns? with < 5% coincidence. 2.1.6.2 1,000 particles/cm3 at 10 microns? with < 10% coincidence. 2.1.6.3 Usable data up to 10,000 particles/cm3. 2.1.7 Minimum particle concentration : 0.001 particle/cm3. 2.1.8 Maximum processing rate for aerodynamic sizing : >200,000 particles/sec. 2.1.9 Sampling time : Programmable and repeatable from 1 sec ~ 18 hr per sample (sampling schedules selected by user). 2.1.10 Flow rates : 2.1.10.1 Aerosol sample : 1.0 L/min +/-0.1 2.1.10.2 Sheath air : 4.0 L/min +/-0.1 2.1.10.3 Total : 5.0 L/min +/-0.2 2.1.11 Atmospheric pressure correction : Automatic correction between 400 and 1,030 mbar 2.1.12 Laser source: visible wavelength, solid-state laser source. 2.1.13 Detector : Avalanche photodetector (APD). 2.1.14 Front-panel display : minimum of 320 x 240 pixels. 2.1.15 Operating temperature : 10 ~ 40 oC. 2.1.16 Operating humidity : 10 ~ 90% R.H. 2.1.17 Power : 85 ~ 260 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 3.0 A maximum. 2.1.18 Communications : RS-232 (9-pin) port. 2.1.19 Outputs 2.1.19.1 Digital I/O : 15-pin port (3 inputs, 3 outputs) for external device control and two analog inputs (0 ~ 10 V). 2.1.19.2 Configuration analog : BNC (0 ~ 10 V). 2.1.19.3 Analog pulse : BNC. 2.1.19.4 Digital time-of-flight : BNC. 2.1.20 Aerosol inlet : 3/4 inch O.D. 2.1.21 Operating software compatible with 586 Pentium processor and MS window 95 operating system or higher operating environments. 2.1.22 Automatic control and data application through the RS232 cable connected between the instrument and the PC.
