- Description
- This synopsis is published pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.205 (c), and is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. NOTE: There is no additional information available for release at this time. Verbal request for information will not be provided. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, SSES is seeking information regarding the potential use of commercially available or conceptual air filtration technology suitable for use in gas turbine engine intake separator systems aboard either current or potential future amphibious air cushion vehicle. Desirable attributes of filtration technology considered for naval applications include: high filtration efficiency (across the engine power range/associated air flow velocity); low pressure drop; compact/low volume requirement; light weight; high reliability and low maintenance requirements; low life cycle cost. The operating environment is that of an amphibious air cushion vehicle in a salt and particulate laden atmosphere, thereby necessitating an intake separator system to separate bulk water, salt and particulates from the intake air flow. This is not a solicitation/RFP and there are no known future requirements pending at this time. Any information (physical and performance characteristics, illustrations/drawings, commercial applications, operating experience, development/production status, space and weight requirements, discussion on suitability for use in naval applications, approximate cost and availability, etc.) submitted relative to this request for information should be forwarded to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, SSES, 5001 S. Broad St., Code 985, Attn: Joseph Schell, Philadelphia, PA 19112-1403 within 30 days of this announcement date.
