- This notice is posted as an intent to award contract for commercial items. The items required under this contract will be deemed brand name in nature in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 52.211-6 - Brand Name or Equal. This notic e is not a request for competitive quotations, but a notice of the US Army Intelligence and Security Commands (INSCOM) intent to procure the following Hewlett-Packard (HP) brand items: HP Color LaserJet 9500n, Part Number: C8546A (Quantity: 6 ea.); H P CLJ9500 Black Toner, Part Number: C8550A (Quantity: 10 ea.); HP Color LaserJet Yellow Print Cartridge, Part Number: C8552A (Quantity: 10 ea.); HP Color LaserJet Magenta Print Cartridge, Part Number: C8553A (Quantity: 10 ea.); HP Color LaserJet Cyan Pr int Cartridge, Part Number: C8551A (Quantity: 10 ea.); 128MB 168-pin SDRAM DIMM for HP Color LaserJet 4550, Part Number: C7850A (Quantity: 12); HP LaserJet 9500N Auto Duplexer, Part Number: C9674A (Quantity: 6 ea.); HP Color LaserJet 4700dtn Printer, Part Number: Q7494A (Quantity: 4 ea.); HP Cyan Toner Cartridge for Color LaserJet 4700, Part Number: Q5951A (Quantity: 10 ea.); HP Black Toner Cartridge for Color LaserJet 4700, Part Number: Q5950A (Quantity: 10 ea.); HP Yellow Print Cartridge for Color LaserJe t 4700 Series, Part Number: Q5952A (Quantity: 10 ea.); HP Magenta Toner Cartridge for Color LaserJet 4700, Part Number: Q5953A (Quantity: 10 ea.); JUSTIFCATION FOR PROCUREMENT OF BRAND NAME OR EQUAL items listed above: a. Maintenance Cost: HQ INSCOM maintains existing HP maintenance contracts for extended service of HP products employed on DoD Command and Control Networks. The incorporation of other Brand Name servers, workstations or printers would require additional maintenance contracts at additional cost. b. Compatibility: HQ INSCOM has expended significant resources over many years to establish an industry-standard, state-of-the-art, high performance, optimized, manageable, reliable and secure system infrastructure utilizing HP servers, workstations and printers. Maintenance of a standardized HP system architecture maximizes the efficiency of system engineering, management & maintenance, and helps ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of mission critical data on DoD command and control n etworks. HP is a long-term market leader, and represents the industry standard in servers, workstations & printers. Standardization on an HP system architecture provides the following benefits: industry standard, state of the art capabilities; consistent t echnical design; guaranteed compatibility, integration & interoperability with existing systems infrastructure; consistent interface for ease of administration & training; standardized management, optimization & troubleshooting tools & procedures; compatib ility with third-party tools & applications; ease of administration via standardized system images & software baselines for various HP models; consistent security administration for systems & data; standardization of patch management and Information Assura nce Vulnerability Assessment (IAVA) compliance and implementation via Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS); consolidation of maintenance via single cost-effective maintenance contract and stockage of standard replacement parts inventory.
