- The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is seeking design, quality, availability and performance information regarding pouches/pouch sets for individual Marines to attach to the Modular Tactical Vest (MTV) and other load bearing equipment. Of particular interest are pouches/pouch sets for Marine riflemen, auto riflemen (SAW gunners), grenadiers, pistol men and other USMC Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs) including military police, radio operators, vehicle drivers and corpsmen, to include but not limited to M16 pouches (single, double, and bandoleer), sustainment and utility pouches, hand grenade, 9mm pouch., 40mm Pouch (single, double, multiple), 40mm pyrotechnic, smoke grenade, pop-up flare, SAW drum pouch 200RD, Quality, durability and consistency of supply are deemed to be of particular concern. Desired pouch/pouch set characteristics include one-handed operation, ease of item insertion and extraction, easy and positive opening and closing, noise reduction, and snag/tear resistance. Optimization and balancing of human factors (e.g. comfort usability and durability) and environmental threats, and maintenance and production costs are also considered to be important. MARCORSYSCOM contemplates the use of modular/scalable pouches/pouch sets enabling individual Marines to configure pouch components to best meet specific mission requirements. Pouches and pouch sets must integrate with: 1) the Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment (MOLLE) weave attachment system to the P.A.L.S webbing and contain the following 2) fabrics providing durability greater than 725-Denier (T) 1000-Denier (O), 3) use materials having IRR capabilities where possible 4) available in MARPAT Woodland, MARPAT Desert and Coyote 476/498 pantone colors and 5) be 100% Berry Amendment compliant. MARCORSYSCOM is requesting information regarding best approaches to satisfying the above requirements. At the conference, MARCORSYSCOM will provide an overview of current goals, issues, uses, capability needs, constraints, other information, and answers to written questions or concerns received before the conference date. A limited number of individual sessions can be arranged with the MARCORSYSCOM team by appointment to discuss company-specific ideas, concern, prototypes, and etc. These one-on-one sessions will not exceed thirty (30) minutes each and should include company qualifications/background and best practice ideas. Companies wishing to attend the conference or make a session appointment should register no later than 04 October 2006, 4:00 PM Local Time, by emailing Mark Sanderson at mark.sanderson@usmc.mil. Session requests should include company capabilities/similar-relevant past performance information. Participation is limited to two persons. Also, please provide company size.
