- Description
- The National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to negotiate with the Screening Centers of the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial for the Breast and Other Cancer Supplemental Data. The data to be collected is only available from women participants recruited in the PLCO Trial diagnosed with breast cancer in the screening and control arms. The Screening Centers have been screening and abstracting this data since the inception of the study. The PLCO Screening Centers include: the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute - N01-CN-25511; Georgetown University - N01-CN-25522; Henry Ford Hospital - N01-CN-25512; University of Minnesota, N01-CN-25513; University of Colorado Health Science Center - N01-CN-25514; Straub Pacific Health Research Institute - N01-CN-25515; Washington University - N01-CN-25516; Marshfield Medical Research and Education Foundation - N01-CN-25518; University of Utah - N01-CN-25524; and University of Alabama at Birmingham - N01-CN-75022. The Breast and Other Supplemental Data allows for abstracting pathology reports from other non screened cancers such as breast cancer, where limited pathology information has been recorded. For the coordination of the Breast and Other Cancer Supplemental Data, NCI intends to negotiate with the Coordinating Center of the PLCO, Westat, Inc. - N01-CN-25476. The Coordinating Center has developed monitoring and tracking programs that are proprietary and are essential to these participants and this project. Study coordination includes: meeting with the NCI personnel to review progress and resolve problems; monitor progress and protocol adherence at screening centers and prepare monthly status reports; coordinate conference calls and provide minutes; maintain and update study-specific information.
