- Description
- The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Microwave Monolithics, Simi Valley, CA for fifty (50) MicroPLB, to be delivered to Lorton, VA. The PBLs must be small, pocket sized, handheld, transportable on commercial passenger aircraft in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and with an attached/internal GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver and an extended operational battery life of 48 hours at -20 degrees C (GPS) receiver. In addition, Type Approval for operation in the interntional Cospas-Sarsat System, a satellite based distress alert and notification system, is required. When activated, the PBLs trasmit a signal to the orbiting Cospas and Sarsat satellities to relay to global Mission Control Centers, and search and rescue (SAR) forces such as the Coast Guard and Air Force. A justification for other than full and open competition is on file. No solicitation documents are available and requests for such will not be acknowledged. If one is issued, no additional synopsis will be published. The determination to open competition is solely within the discretion of the Government. No telephone inquires will be accepted.
