Description
The government is seeking sources to for the procurement and installation of a temporary Shock Absorbing Concrete (SACON) Live Fire Shoot House and Grenade Trainer for Marine Corps Base, Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay. The temporary SACON grenade/shoot house will be used for grenade handling, room breaching, room entry and clearing in an urban setting. The building should have one room for exploding grenades, two rooms for room entry and clearing and an adjoining hallway connecting the two areas. Two doorways between the two operational areas and three entry doorways are required. Approximate room sizes required are: grenade room = 20x25-ft; clearing rooms= 14x15-ft; hallway = 25x8-ft. The clearing rooms require one window in each. No roof is required for the training facility. Wall height must be 8-ft minimum. The wall technology to be supplied must handle light weapons, particularly 5.56mm ball ammunition and have a minimum thickness to handle 2,000 rounds of 5.56mm ball ammunition in an 18-in circle. The room clearing rooms require breachable doors. The grenade throwing rooms require a means of preventing the explosives from exploding close to the base of the walls, to prevent foundation wear. The site for these temporary training facilities will have a level ground condition, and the supplier will be required to provide a packed earth/dross pad where the training structure is to be erected. This structure must meet the current guidelines for existing earthquake specs. All buildings are to be considered non-inhabitable and temporary. Walls must be detachable for removal and replacement if warn from bullet/explosive strikes. The award will be approximately $200,000 with anticipated delivery date 90 days after contract award. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. It should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the US Government to issue a solicitation. Any information provided to the Government in response to this RFI will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. Written response is requested within 15 days after publication of this notice. Additional drawings are attached to this notice.
