- Description
- NASA intends to award a sole-source contract to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop a proof-of-concept model to demonstrate the feasibility of applying the "Analytic/Deliberative Decision-Making Process" at NASA. As part of this proof-of-concept model, the contractor shall develop analytical and computational tools and techniques for decision-making utilizing modern methods of decision analysis. MIT's Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics has a long history of providing valuable technical advice to NASA. Additionally, the MIT Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering has a rich tradition in PRA methods development and applications. MIT has unique experience with the NASA Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Procedures Guide as they are one of the major contributors thereof. With internationally recognized leaders in the development of technology and systems architecting, the department provides NASA with a unique combination of innovators and developers, with economic, scientific, engineering, and technology skills as well as backgrounds in economics and security to apply to problems of Space Exploration. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. MIT is the only source that can meet the Government's needs. Any other firms desiring consideration are requested to fully identify their interest and capabilities within 15 days of the date of publication of this synopsis to the NASA's GSFC office and contact listed below, See Note(s) 12. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B". Any referenced notes may be viewed at the following URLs linked below.
