- The United States Marine Corps (USMC), Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) Program Manager Optics and Non-Lethal Systems (ONS) is sponsoring an Electro-Optics Industry Conference to be held 24-26 October 2006, at Ellis Hall located in Building 2082, South Street, Marine Corps Base Quantico VA. The Program Manager ONS and the Optical Systems Team will present a brief on the Marine Corps? current and future optics programs on the morning of 24 October 2006. This briefing on 24 October, 0830-1100, is open to all interested parties. The period of 1300, 24 October through 1200, 26 October, is reserved for Industry responses and live fire and field demonstrations of products. The proposed agenda follows. Response deadline of interested vendors shall be no later than 1500 hour on 15 September 2006 to the ONS representative, Ms. Jean Shipley, Columbia Research Corporation (CRC), at jshipley@columbiaresearch.com. To be considered, vendors shall submit a one-page abstract, and completed questionnaire (attached), of the products/technology that are to be briefed and/or demonstrated. Abstracts will be evaluated and qualified vendors will be notified of briefing times. A final schedule with event times and locations will be coordinated with each selected vendor by 22 September. Maps and directions will be provided at that time. Vendors will be allotted one fifty-minute time block for briefs and one thirty-minute time block for live fire and field demonstrations. Vendors should tailor their briefs and product demonstrations towards individual hand-held, helmet and small-arms (to include crew-served weapons) mounted day and night vision optical systems. Although briefs on current technology will be allowed, Optical Systems is primarily interested in future material solutions that will satisfy day/night/reduced visibility optical requirements over the next ten years, to include electronic image intensifiers, thermal imagers, digital sensor fusion technology, short wave infrared, real-time image process ing, wireless image sharing, and miniature eye-piece displays. All briefs shall be unclassified. Vendors desiring classified briefs can coordinate with the Program Office for presentations at a later date. Demonstration of prototypes is encouraged but not required. The Government will attempt to accommodate all requests for presentations and demonstrations; however, this may be limited to resources available. 24 October 2006 0800-0830 Check-in at Ellis Hall 0830-0845 Opening Remarks, Commanding General, MARCORSYSCOM 0845-0900 PGD-13, Col Shawn Reinwald 0900-0915 ONS Program Manager, LtCol Scott Huelse 0915-1100 Optical Systems Team Briefs 1100-1200 Lunch Break 1200-1700 Industry Briefs at CRC (Vendors TBD) 1700-1800 Dinner Break 1800-1830 Travel to Ranges 1830-2200 Industry Live Fire and Field Demonstrations 25 October 2006 0800-1200 Industry Briefs at CRC (Vendors TBD) 1200-1300 Lunch Break 1300-1700 Industry Briefs at CRC (Vendors TBD) 1700-1800 Dinner Break 1800-1830 Travel to Ranges 1830-2200 Industry Live Fire and Field Demonstration 26 October 2006 0800-1200 Industry Briefs at CRC (Vendors TBD) The period of 1200, 24 October through 1200, 26 October is reserved for individual contractors to privately brief a Marine Corps panel on their approaches, strategies, questions, and concerns on how they intend to provide support for ground based, man-portable/small-arms mounted, electro-optic target acquisition systems.
