Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is issuing a Sources Sought Announcement to request submissions from HUBZone Small Business Contractors only who have the ability and are interested in performing the maintenance dredging of two portions of the 27-feet deep, 500 feet wide Federal navigation channel in the Kennebec River, Kennebec, Maine. Historically, the work has involved removal of about 10,000 cubic yards of sand from the Doubling Point reach and 15,000 cubic yards of sand fro m the Popham Beach area. A hopper dredge will be utilized to perform the work. The dredged material from the (upriver) Doubling Point area will be disposed of at the previously used in-river disposal site located north of Bluff Head in about 95 to 100 fe et of water. Material dredged from the Popham Beach area will be disposed at a 500-yard circular near-shore disposal site located about 0.4 nautical miles south of Jackknife Ledge in depths of about 40 to 50 feet below MLW. Due to environmental restric tions, the dredging window is November through March. Interested parties should submit written documentation indicating interest and detailing hopper dredge experience including plant and equipment information. This is not a request to be placed on a solicitation mailing list nor is it a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an announcement of a solicitation. Responses are required no later than September 11, 2006. Responses shall be limited to 5 pages and indicate you HUBZone s tatus. The government will not pay for any material provided in response to this market survey nor return the data provided.
