Description
The US Air Force (USAF) is exploring commercial/government off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) technologies related to using a tactical remote controlled air vehicle to assist in security and counterterrorism/antiterrorism responsibilities. The technology must be electro-optical/ infrared-optical (EO/ IR) capable with the ability to change back and forth between the two if necessary. The technology should be transportable by one person with a weight of no more than 40 lbs. The tactical remote controlled vehicle should have a loiter speed in excess of 40 knots and a sprint speed in excess of 80 knots, with a loiter time of 8 hours The vehicle should have the ability to port multiple sensors in a single gimballed payload, as well as the ability to add a transponder. The technology should have an endurance of at least 3 hours and a range at a tactically significant distance. The goal of the technology is to have a vehicle that is transportable and operable by a two person team. Training for the technology should take no longer than 8 hours. Through this BAA, the Air Force is requesting information concerning mature technologies, which meet the requirements previously stated, to be used in a Battlelab concept demonstration. The primary selection criteria for all submissions will be the most practical system available to support the requirements. All offerors are strongly encouraged to submit information supporting this request. Currently, there is only limited Battlelab funding identified for this program, however, if research indicates that the technology is available and transferable to the USAF, funding may be sought for prototype demonstration and recommended to Headquarters, Air Combat Command. NOTICE TO FOREIGN OFFERORS: Foreign or foreign-owned offerors are advised that their participation is subject to foreign disclosure review procedures and restrictions that could preclude their participation in this announcement. SUMBISSIONS: Product information may be submitted until COB EST 18 June 2004. White papers should not exceed five pages plus cover letter. Offerors are advised that only Air Force Contracting Officers are legally authorized to commit the Government to the obligation of funds.
