- This is modification 2 to the synopsis entitled Microgravity Services which was posted on July 10, 2006. You are notified that the following questions related to this synopsis have been answered: 1. The draft statement of work states the minimum required is 82", and I would like to know what the cabin height of the C-9 is? Also, I would like to know the interior floor test area of the C-9 NASA?s Response: The C-9B test area is approximately 45 feet long, 104 inches wide and 82.5 inches high. 2. Will the contractor also fulfill other NASA Student Campaign Services (Test Readiness Reviews, Safety Reviews, Check In's, etc) or will AOD continue to do those NASA?s Response: This is a Request for Information and as such the Government is soliciting your ideas and recommendations. If you consider that including the other services would be appropriate, please provide information as to the benefits of including these programs. 3. Will Astronaut Heavy Aircraft Trainers also be included in this contract? I see ISS and Shuttle Support but would like clarification on these. NASA?s Response: This is a Request for Information and as such the Government is soliciting your ideas and recommendations. If you consider that including other services would be appropriate, please provide information as to the benefits of including the Astronaut Heavy Aircraft Trainers. 4. Is the Capability Statement due on 10 August or just written questions or comments NASA?s Response: The due date for a capability statement is August 31, 2006. Questions and/or comments are due by August 24, 2006. 5. Would a possible future contract be a long term (i.e. 5 years) or short term with options NASA?s Response: This is a Request for Information and as such the Government is soliciting your ideas and recommendations. If you consider that having a 5 year contract or a shorter contract to be in the best interest of the Government, please provide information as to the benefit to the Government. 6. Can you provide a copy of NASA's Aircraft Operations and Training Procedures, AOD 09295, Volume II NASA?s Response: This document is located in the Technical Library on the Microgravity Services webpage, which can be viewed at the following URL: http://procurement.jsc.nasa.gov/ms/ 7. Will NASA provide forklift and crane operation training as well as physiological training referenced in Section 7.0? NASA?s Response: The above listed services will not be provided by the Government. The responders should therefore make provisions in their response to the Request For Information for acquiring these services from another source. 8. Can you please provide specifications, drawings, installation and maintenance instructions for the following? a. In-flight K-bottle mounting racks referenced in section 5.2 b. "S" band downlink antennas and equipment rack referenced in section 5.2 c. Overboard Vent referenced in Section 5.2 d. Low gravity guidance system referenced in Section 5.2 e. Accelerometers used in conjunction with the DB-15 connector referenced in Section 5.3 f. Lighting system currently in use aboard the C-9 g. Display panels referenced in Section 5.3 NASA?s Response: All of the information is located in the Technical Library on the Microgravity Services webpage, which can be viewed at the following URL: http://procurement.jsc.nasa.gov/ms/ 9. The security requirements mentioned in Section 9.0 reference "whenever the aircraft is not at a NASA center," does this apply to when the aircraft is being used by NASA only or for all other contractor operations NASA?s Response: The security requirements apply only when the aircraft is being used by NASA. 10. If sub-contractors are used in the performance of the SOW, are there any requirements not mentioned in the SOW NASA?s Response: It is not anticipated that there would be any additional requirements. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
