- Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools and equipment required to tent and contain all hazardous silica and paint debris, completely sandblast all exterior components to white metal, apply a prime coat, then apply a base coat and a finish coat of paint to the exterior of the existing water tower at the VA Medical Center, St. Cloud, Minnesota in compliance with the specifications and drawings duplicating the existing patriotic color scheme and VA logo. Spot sandblast to white metal all corroded or rusted areas on the interior and repair those areas, then brush blast the remaining interior, apply a prime coat, then apply a base coat and a finish coat of paint in compliance with the specifications. Replace existing roof vent assembly with a new Aluminum Tank Vent and Steel Exhaust Fan Flange. Design and install three lifting hoist tripod-footing supports with stops for the tripod leg pads. Design and install a substantial new safety handrail with self-closing gate on top of the water tower symmetrically surrounding the vent, manhole, hoist tripod footings, and workspace. Repair and reinstall or replace if conditions prohibit repair, the existing 72? pipe tank riser safety grating at the base of the existing water tank. All work is to be performed in accordance with the project plans and specifications. Electronic solicitation documents may be obtained FREE of charge via the VA Business Opportunities website. Requests for hard copy solicitation documents must be in writing to the Contracting Officer and accompanied by a check for $30.00 made out to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Only 1 request for hard copy will be honored per contractor/request. No telephone or fax requests will be accepted. Any amendments issued to this solicitation will only be available on the VA Business Opportunities website. Offerors are advised that they are responsible for obtaining all amendments. The Bidder?s Mailing List is only available on the VA Business Opportunities website. Issue date is August 9, 2006, Pre-Bid Conference is August 29, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Bid Opening September 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. The cost range for this project is $300,000 to $400,000. The NAICS code is 237110 with a small business size standard of $28.5 Million. No electronic offers will be accepted. Award is subject to the availability of funds.
