Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Florida Integrated Science Center, Miami, FL, has a requirement for a 15' by 8' stainless steel, Diamondback airboat with a 454 GM Marine engine and a CH 3 2 3 to 1 reduction unit w/Black Hawk Belt, in order to access and service existing and potential future marine habitat stations within the Everglades and conservation areas throughout South Florida. The USGS Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando offices already own airboats manufactured by Diamondback, which have a proven record of durability and reliability with USGS scientists. Purchasing this additional craft from the same manufacturer will keep navigation skills/requirements consistent with the training skills/requirements of drivers using the current fleet. In addition, the stainless steel hull of the Diamondback boat is especially resistant to hull punctures, which meets USGS safety requirements standards. The aforementioned factors, plus the fact that maintenance and repair service requirements of the make and model are consistent with the current fleet, will not require the use of additional, multiple vendors for obtaining these services. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The anticipated award date is August 11, 2006, under the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $100,000.00. NAICS is 336612. No additional synopsis will be published.
