Description
NURSING ASSISTANT STATEMENT OF WORK Contracted agency to provide nursing assistant coverage 7-days per week for shift of 3;30 pm thru midnight. The nurse asst. will provide dependable and timely age-specific nursing care in according with established policies, procedures and standards and should be able to recognize and report deviations from normal back to TL/CN. Must be able to perform all treatments and procedures as outlined in GS-5 Orientation Procedure Checklist for assigned patients or assist with delivery of procedures/treatments ina timely and organized manner in accordance with established procedures and policies. Contracted help must preserve patient confidentiality with respect to patient/family and significant others rights and assist with multidisciplinary team to resolve ethical issues. Must be able to recognize medical emergencies and initiate appropriate intervention. Must maintain basic life support and code purple skills by attending training. Nurse must assist patients to keep physically and socially active .Must attend interdisciplinary rounds and discharge plan meetings to assist with patient education/discharge planning. Implements patient education/discharge planning interventions for assigned patients and assesses need for further education. Nurse expected to document nursing care and interventions along with patient response for assigned patients and establish flowsheets or progress notes in according with Documentation Policy. Must follow admission routine and complete designated sections of the admission assessment in a timely and correct manner. Must correctly submit incident reports on designated form and submit to TL/CN in timely manner. May be asked to participate in development of initial Kardex and plan of care in collaboration with TL/CN. May participate in ongoing evaluation of patient care. Must be able to interact with peers,patient family and member of nursing team and promote positive working relationships. Must be able to float between units to do similar work in other units. Should be able to collect data for monitoring of care and assist in improvement activities. Nurse expected to perform assigned maintenance duties on equipment and supplies in a timely manner. Must have adequate knowledge of safety and infection control policies and be able to identify and report infractions. Should have knowledge of disposal procedures of hazardous waste. Should be able to use proper body mechanical skills in lifting and moving patients. Must participate and follow procedures in fire drills and be familiar with emergency equipment as crash carts,fire alarms and emergency call light system Should report all safety hazards to supervisors. Nurse must maintain computer system security by following Medical Center Policies. BLS certification is required.
