Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Semiconductor Electronics Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Suss Microtec Inc of Waterbury Center, VT for one set of 6? wafers and mask chucks. Sole source determination is based on the following: The 6? wafer chuck set and mask chucks being purchased is an upgrade to an existing MA6 Suss Microtec system, NIST currently owns and utilizes. This tooling is required to process silicon wafers and other substrates that are 6? in diameter. The upgrade will increase the tool on the existing equipment from 4? to 6?. The dimensions and compatibility of the wafer and mask chucks are imperative to ensure proper function of the equipment. This design is proprietary to Suss Microtec. Suss Microtec is the sole manufacturer and sole distributor of these chucks. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by August 03, 2006 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
