Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Biochemical Science Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Optiphase, Incorporated of Van Nuys, CA for (1) one Fiber Interferometer assembly. Sole source determination is based on the following: The NIST small force metrology laboratory requires a fiber interferometer assembly for a research collaboration between NIST Gaithersburg and NIST Boulder, Colorado. NIST Boulder currently owns and utilizes a Fiber Interferometer assembly. Optiphase is the sole manufacturer and sole distributor of the required equipment. 100 percent compatibility is crucial between the experimental equipment. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by July 20, 2006 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
