- Description
- Sources Sought for HUBZone, 8(a), SDAV firms with qualifications to provide construction services for roof repair of USGS National Wetlands Research Center (NWRC), Lafayette, LA building(s). Scope of Work from Architect's Field Report for corrective action: Location #1: Seal all gaps between base flashing membrane, metal counter flashing, and bottom of the wall cover plate as required for completing watertight transitions in the roof to wall and wall to wall flashing. Location #2: Remove termination bar and roof edge counter flashing from plaster wall at southwest corner of MR1 to expose roof panel. Provide flashing behind roof panel vertical leg near overhang and up slope as required to replace any trimmed or insufficiently turned up edges along the wall, preventing water from washing over and behind same into building interior. Prior to replacing counter flashing, trim the end dam closure to allow flow of water, similar to the hemmed edge, open end installed on Area MR4. All materials should be thoroughly cleaned and new sealant of the appropriate type applied when re-installation occurs. The Owner should also authorize the roofing contractor to seal the counter flashing seam at the wall expansion joint. Location #3: Corrections will be similar to Location #2. Location #4: The Owner should authorize the roofing contractor to clean, install bond breaker material (backer rod) if required and reseal the gap between the bottom of the wall expansion joint and the metal counterflashing below to prevent the water flowing off MR3 from entering the building. The contractor should correct the end dam problem to prevent the channeling of the water down to that same spot similar to Location #2. Location #5: The contractor shall remove the fasteners and counterflashing, clean the southwest wall base flashing intersection and reseal completely. A backer plate or flashing should be fabricated to close the gap indicated between the wall panel (W4) and plaster wall counterflashing prior to reinstallation of same. The entire area should then be re-sealed for a watertight assembly. Location #6: The contractor shall investigate the damage to the two roof panels indicated on MR4 for repair or replacement in order to maintain the 20-year warranty issue. The installation defect was only noted upon this inspection when the metal-to-metal contact became perceived while walking over that area. The damage obviously occurred during construction. Concerns who feel that they can furnish the required services (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement.
