- RFQ R3-6-06-17 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Line Item 1 ? 243,360 pounds of Seed Mix (Bear Fire). Line Item 2 ? 53,400 pounds of Seed Mix (Reserve Complex). Award will be made by item. Delivery is to be made to Reserve Airport; Reserve, New Mexico 87830. SCOPE OF WORK: The contractor shall provide 2 seed mixes for the Gila National Forest; one mix for the Bear Fire and one mix for the Reserve Complex. Portions of the forest will be treated with seed, applied by air with fixed wing aircraft. Elevations range from 6,000 to 9,000 feet. Line Item 1: On the Bear Fire seed mix will be applied to 10,400 acres at a rate of 23.4 pounds per acre (243,360 pounds total). For the Bear Fire seed mix will contain the following: Festuca arizonica (Arizona Fescue) ? (PLS) 0.2 lb/ac Koeleria Macrantha (June Grass) ? (PLS) 0.2 lb/ac Bromus Marginatus (Mountain Brom) ? (PLS) 3.0 lb/ac Hordium vulgare (Cereal barley) ? (PLS) 20 lb/ac Line Item 2: For the Reserve Complex seed mix will be applied to 2000 acres at a rate of 26.7 pounds per acre (53,400 pounds total). For the Reserve Complex seed mix will contain the following: Bouteloua curtipendula (Side oats) ? (PLS) 1.4 lb/ac Koeleria Macrantha (June Grass) ? (PLS) 0.15 lb/ac Bromus Marginatus (Mountain Brom) ? (PLS) 2.9 lb/ac Hordium vulgare (Cereal barley) ? (PLS) 21 lb/ac Pascopyrum smithii (Western Wheat) ? (PLS) 1.2 lb/ac Application begins on or about July 13, 2006. Seed will be delivered to the Reserve Airport at Reserve New Mexico. Seed will be delivered in bulk in hopper box trailers. Arrival of delivery trucks will be staggered over time, as needed, based on storage space available during the length of the project, which is expected to last from 4 to 10 days or longer, depending on flight conditions and weather. Contractor will be required to coordinate with Government project leader to determine the quantity to ship and shipping dates. Gila National Forest requires the following: Certified Weed Free: Seed must meet the state of New Mexico?s Noxious Weed Laws. In addition, seed is to be free of Malta starthistle ? (Centaurea melitensis). Seed tests must be provided to the Forest Service prior to mixing on any lots used. Forest Service reserves the right to independently sample any and all lots. Payment will not be made for any shipments that do not meet the test criteria. The NAICS code is 424990 with a size standard of 500 employees for a non-manufacturer.
