Description
The purposes of this amendment are to provide answers to questions received from potential offerors and to extend the due date for quotations to 3:30pm on July 5, 2006. QUESTIONS and ANSWERS (1) Functional Requirements: 4pi geometry cannot be met with four detectors but you are willing to accept 4 detectors? ANSWER: NIST requires at least 4 detectors (top, bottom, sides). (2) Under Detector Characteristics: Is the monitor suppose to be able to detect 2 nanocuries of every isotope in the list above it? You talk about a moderate to low level background of 0.2mR/hr. 200uR/hr is a very high background if you need to detect 2 nanocurie sources. The lead will need to be very thick and a single individual may not be able to move this system. Putting this heavy of a system on wheels may be very dangerous. ANSWER: Our typical background is about 20uR/hr. And detection of 2 nanocurie sources can be done with extended count times. (3) Some of the isotopes do not seem to have measurable emissions and with a system of this type they would not be detected? (i.e. P-32,CL-36) ANSWER: Testing for conformance to the specification will be done using Cs137. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged and in full force and effect.
