Description

The Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Volcano Therapeutics Inc. of Rancho Cordova, California, for the purchase of a IVG3/VH Ultrasound Imaging System, featuring VHIVUS with ChromaFlo, In-Line Digital and Endovascular options (?IVUS Unit?), for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, at the Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302 - only one responsible source and no other vendor will satisfy agency requirements. NAICS 339111. To the best of our knowledge, Volcano Therapeutics Inc. of Rancho Cordova, California is the only source that can provide an Ultrasound Imaging System, featuring VHIVUS with ChromaFlo, In-Line Digital and Endovascular options (?IVUS Unit?). This type system is specifically manufactured for intravascular ultrasound machines that are for use in Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories, which includes technology for determining plaque composition and the phased array catheter. Salient characteristics include the following: This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within ten (10) calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information can be sent to the Contracting Officer, VAMC-GLAC, Building 5, 5000 W. National Ave. Bldg. 5, Milwaukee WI 53295 or via fax to (414) 902-5440. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the GLAC will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Volcano Therapeutics Inc. of Rancho Cordova, California.
