- Description
- This project work consists of dredging portions of Key West Harbor, including the Main Ship Channel and Cut-A (including Cut-A Widener). The required depth of dredging will be 36 feet MLLW with an allowable depth of 1 foot. The estimated total amou nt of material to be dredged is approximately 0.2 to 0.3 million cubic yards. The general types of material expected to be encountered are silt, sand and Gravel. All dredged material will be placed in the ocean disposal area located 13 miles south of Key West. The Contractor should expect that close coordination with environmental agencies will be required. In general, the contractor should expect that a high degree of environmental sensitivity will be required of him by the contract. The same level of sensitivity will be expected by the environmental community, which will be diligently watching the contractors operations, especially with regard to turbidity. In particular, the contractor should expect to work with restrictions such as areas of no acc ess, no anchor placement beyond the limits of the channel bottom, and special requirements regarding the use of anchor cables, swing cables, mooring lines, etc. The project is advertised with three alternate bid schedules in accordance with funding dollars . Alternate Bid A with a construction time of 55 days consist of a buffer of 20 feet, Alternate Bid B, with a construction time of 60 Days consists of a buffer of 10 feet, and Alternate Bid C, with a construction time of 65 days consists of a buffer of 3 feet. Performance period is based on awarded alternate bid. Coast Guard Certification of all vessels will be required. Magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Solicitation will be issued on or about 27 June 2006 and open on or about 27 July. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED ACQUISITION. There will be a price preference for certified HUBZone small business concerns that comply with the requirements in the solicitation as stipulated in FAR 19.1307. ALL RESPONSIBLE BIDDERS ARE ENCOUR AGED TO PARTICIPATE. Solicitation will be issued using the FeDTedS system. Interested bidders must register with FedTEDS.
