Description: The Kootenai National Forest has a requirement for a Common Stand Exam. The purpose of this project is to provide plot inventory and stand examination data. It involves locating and establishing plots and measuring and recording trees, vegetation composition, ground surface cover, down woody material and supplemental wildlife data. Solicitation and any applicable specifications and maps will be posted to this same website on 28 June 2006. There will be a show-me trip to discuss the project in more detail on 10 July 2006 at 10:00 a.m. local time at the Murphy Lake Ranger Station in Fortine, Montana. Any interested party is strongly encouraged to attend this meeting. It is estimated that work will begin on 5 September 2006. The project will carry over into 2007 with the possibility of an option.
