- The Social Security Administration, Region II, requires a contractor to replace 21 heavy duty fire exit doors and corresponding door frames at the Addabbo Federal Building, located in Jamaica, Queens, New York. A summary of the characteristics of the door units are as follows: A. Type of material to be fabricated is #304 Stainless Steel; B. Door gauge to be 16 gauge; C. Door face sheet finish is # 4 Satin finish; D. Door thickness to be 1 and three quater inches (consult factory for other thicknesses); E. Door edges to be welded and ground smooth, finished to be seamless and matching face skins finish (all gauges are available seamless); F. Construct doors with vertical stainless steel stiffeners filled with loose fiberglass bats or mineral rock wool insulation between stiffeners. The stiffeners shall be hat shaped sections fabricated from 22 gauge minimum stainless steel located 8 inches on center (6 inches between stiffeners). A summary of the characteristics of the door frames are as follows: A. Frame gauge to be 14 gauge; B. Frames to be face miter or butt trim (2 inch faces standard) shall be joined with face welds ground and polished smooth to blend and match adjacent surfaces. Colored and some textured/patterned stainless steels will have visible hairline face miter seam; C. All corners, joints, and intersections to be welded, ground smooth, refinished and re-polished to blend and match existing or adjacent surfaces; D. Floor Anchors shall be provided, one per jamb, minimum 16 gauge angle with two 3/16 inch diameter holes in floor clip for bolting to floor; welded to back of frame; E. Cut-off (hospital) stops where indicated, shall be provided with 45 degree cut-off or 90 degree cut-off stops. Indicate on the door schedule which frames require cut-off stops, at what height above finished floor and either 45 or 90 degree; F. Door Silencers except on weather?stripped doors shall be provided with drill stop in strike jam to receive three silencers on single doorframes and on double doorframes, drill head jamb stop to receive two silencers; G. Plaster guards or dust cover boxes shall be provided of same type of material of frame, welded to back of hardware cutouts to close off interior openings and prevent mortar or other materials from obstructing hardware operation. This acquisition will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. THIS IS A TOTAL HUB-ZONE SET ASIDE, in accordance with FAR 19.1305. The NAICS code is 236220 with a size standard of $31 million. The Request for Quotation is expected to be issued on approximately June 14, 2006 and may be downloaded at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. The date for a site visit will be contained in the solicitation.
