Description
The US Geological Survey (USGS) anticipates entering into non-competitive negotiations with the University of Colorado (CU) located at the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, Colorado, for approximately 12,608 useable square feet of office, conference, light industrial, and storage space and approximately 9,998 useable square feet of laboratory space. The subject space will be in support of ongoing cooperative projects between USGS and the University of Colorado. The space will be located directly on the University of Colorado campus at 3215 Marine Street, Building RL-6, Boulder. USGS and CU routinely collaborate on projects associated with the toxic substances hydrology program, the water-energy-biogeochemical budgets program, and the national water quality assessment program. Projects benefiting USGS by working directly at the CU campus include joint publications on hydrologic processes and geochemical thermodynamics and collaborative grants for joint research. Co-location of USGS and CU scientists working jointly on these projects will greatly enhance their ability to share information and ideas which in turn will result in better scientific understanding of the processes being studied. Other benefits include USGS participation in CU graduate programs as both students and instructors. On-site shared resources available to USGS personnel at the CU campus include within one-block access to the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR) center and access within the proposed building to sub-zero deep freeze facilities. Other on-site shared resources include the Geology Department's Thin Section laboratory, the CU chemistry department machine shop, the CU academic libraries, and CU environmental management services. The lease term will be five years, one year firm. Suppliers who believe they can provide the required space with the same university privileges are invited to submit an affirmative response by July 3, 2006. All such responses will be evaluated in order to determine whether that supplier has full knowledge and capabilities to meet requirements of the USGS. An affirmative response should be provided to the point of contact listed in this announcement. This notice is for information purposes only. Requests for Proposal (RFP) are not available. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement. Contact Point: Susan Hathaway, phone: 303-236-9176 Box 25046, MS 205 Denver Federal Center Denver, CO 80225
