Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Boulder CO proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Physik Instrumente L.P., 16 Albert Street, Auburn, MA 01501 for a quantity of three (3), two-axis PZT tip/tilt actuators to control the position of the mirror that steers the detector laser beams into the objective lens. The detector beams must move independently of the trapping beam with extreme precision to allow for calibration of the trapping and detector beams. The piezo mirror must be able to move the beam continuously and precisely through the field of view. It must have closed loop control over its own position to avoid the deleterious effects of drift and hysteresis. It must have sub-micro radian resolution. It must be robust electronically so that +/- 10 V swings of the input do no damage. It must be controlled with analog voltages. Through market research it was determined that only Physik Instrumente has a form factor that is compatible with NIST's existing hardware. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (under $100,000). This notice is for information purposes only. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether on not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. Questions should be submitted in writing to the contracting officer either by fax or e-mail before June 12, 2006. Anticipated award date is June 13, 2006.
