- Description
- Brunswick Job Corps Center is requesting bidders for a project of an estimated $500,000 to $1,000,000 to finish the electrical upgrade for building #1. A mandatory pre-bid conference will take place on June 22, 2006. For more information, contact Patricia at 912-264-8843x139 or email at willover.patricia@jobcorps.org. Scope of Work: The area of work is in building 1 of the Brunswick Job Corps Center. All Federal Pacific distribution panels and branch circuit panel boards are to be replaced. There are also old GE panels that have been field modified or have been damaged that are to be replaced. The original feeders to these panels should be removed and replaced with new feeder conduit and wire. New feeder conduits will be routed above the ceiling in the corridors unless it can be run through the interstitial space. All panels (new and existing) shall receive new completely accurate updated panel schedules to reflect what exist on site (all circuits should be identified through contractor circuit tracing). Any existing and new wiring, conduit and boxes in the interstitial space shall be made code compliant. Add new emergency lights throughout the corridors and stairwells wired to the local lighting circuits ahead of all switching. Lead painting and asbestos specifications are given to provide abatement criteria for the installation of this work. In general, the areas containing asbestos should be avoided to minimize the abatement requirement. Based on the age of this building, all painted surfaces should be assumed to have lead paint for the base layers. All holes drilled in or through painted surfaces should follow all OSHA and specification requirements for lead paint abatement. The work shall be performed in one continuous phase. The center must remain operational throughout this project. All panel and feeder replacements that require shutting down power must be coordinated with the center. Special attention should be given to the kitchen area since the coolers, freezers, ice machines, etc., can only be shut down for one hour periods. Otherwise the kitchen cooling equipment will require a temporary feed from another panel or generator. This brief description of the scope of work is not all inclusive and is complimented by the set of construction documents. Alternative #1: Quote a deduct to leave all D-wing dorm area branch circuit panels in place (do not replace) along with the associated feeder conduit and wire from MDP-3. All other panel replacements and new conduits and feeder in D-wing are to remain in scope.
