Description
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking sources that can provide expert clinical care and quality control in the daily year-round operation, maintenance, and transport of a breeding colony of out-door free-ranging rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta). The Contractor shall provide all personnel including veterinary staff, facilities, labor, and land needed for the care and welfare of the animals while maximizing the reproductive efficiency of the colony per the Government?s requirements. AAALAC accreditation or the equivalent level of facilities and animal care programs is required. The contractor will be responsible for accepting the colony at the designated sight or all costs incurred in transporting the colony to the Contractor?s location for establishment and operation. All animals and progeny from will remain property of the Government and must be maintained separate from any other animals that may be contained at the Contractors facilities. Contractor will provide continuous monitoring and data collection on the colony. Contractor will also provide veterinary support, clinical laboratory, and diagnostic pathology support services which may also require administration of appropriate examination and medication as needed. Contractor will provide appropriate personnel on a 24-hour a day, 7-day a week basis to perform routine maintenance of animals and facilities, and on an as-needed basis, for the tagging, trapping, quarantine, transport, or data collection as requested by the Government. It is anticipated that a Cost Reimbursement type contract will be awarded on or about January 1, 2007 for a base year and five option years. This is a market survey, not a request for proposals.
