THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS OR QUOTES. NO FORMAL RFQ WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS AWARD WILL BE MADE ON OR ABOUT MAY 31ST UNDER SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a sole source non-competitive procurement to RAS, Inc., for flowmeter and geophysical logging services, principally using a prototype, scanning colloidal borescope flowmeter (SCBFM) and other logging tools (induction and natural gamma logs, either a caliper or a video log) on 4-5 wells averaging 150-200 feet in depth. This is in cooperation with the U.S. Army Environmental Center at Camp Bullis near San Antonio, Texas. The SCBFM is unique in using a sonde-based light source, variable focus lens (36-136X), CCD sensor (camera) and software to photograph and measure the velocity and direction of movement of large, optically visible colloids and larger particles across a 0.5m measurement interval. RAS, Inc., is uniquely qualified to provide these services as they are the sole private vendor for SCBFM measurements, owns several parts inseparable from the SCBFM that are essential to probe operation, and have four years experience with operation of the SCBFM through field and laboratory testing.
