THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS OR QUOTES. NO FORMAL RFQ WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS AWARD WILL BE MADE ON OR ABOUT MAY 22, 2006 UNDER SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES. The U.S. Geological Survey Water Resources Division intends to award a sole source contract to Cooper Industries Inc, Cooper Hand Tools Division, Lufkin Road, Apex, NC, for our Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) at Stennis Space Center, MS for stainless steel punched tapes to be used in conjunction with Leupold & Stevens Strip Chart Recorders, as the float tape to drive the input shaft of the Leupold & Stevens A-71 Strip Chart Recorder. The HIF is responsible for testing, evaluating, and approving numerous types of instrumentation and equipment for USGS use, as well as for other Federal Agencies. The HIF routinely stocks a multitude of instruments which are supplied by a number of different manufacturers. The HIF's customer base determines the demand for equipment purchased.
