Description

The Offeror shall provide the physics design and analysis, engineering, mechanical and RF design, manufacture, delivery, installation and testing of a Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator, to be installed in the new heavy ion preinjector at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The RFQ will be in accordance with BNL Specification CAD-1177 and Statement of Work SOW-108416. This RFQ will be of the "4 Rod" type. This type accelerator is well established and is the most common structure for the acceleration of heavy ions at the required frequency, providing a reliable resonator. The Offeror shall provide to Brookhaven National Laboratory in July 2007 an operational model for testing. in strict accordance with the attached BSA Statement of Work(SOW) No. 108416, Dated 4/14/2006 and BSA Specification No. CAD-1177, Dated 4/14/2006. In addition a formal Safety Plan is required as outlined in Supplement 1 to Attachment A, Article 7A. Mandatory Qualifications Requirements: The prospective offeror must have successfully engineered, manufactured and installed a four rod radio frequency quadrupole accelerator that is currently in operation. Provide references of institutions that your firm has successfully designed, manufactured and installed similar systems that must meet or exceed the requirements as set forth in the Specification and Statement of Work. Failure to provide this information will result in your quotation being considered non-responsive. Manufacturing of all components must be with a firm that has ISO 9000 Certification. One source has been identified for this procurement, the University of Frankfurt. This solicitation is issued to established to identify additional technically qualified sources.
