Description
State and Private Forestry has a requirement for a nonnative plant inventory on the Kupreanof Island and Mitkof Island road systems. Specific work includes: providing all services necessary for the collection of field data on non-native plants in the project area. Data shall be collected in road rights-of-way on state and local lands, and Forest Service controlled road rights-of-way on private land on Kupreanof Island and Mitkof Island, Alaska. On Mitkof Island, there are an estimated total of 38 miles of state, local, and Native maintained road right-of-way proposed for inventory. There are an estimated 95 miles of Forest Service maintained road right-of-way proposed for inventory. The estimated total right-of way proposed for survey on Mitkof Island are 133 miles. Kupreanof Island is separated into three sections Kake, Portage Bay, and Tonka. Kake is the primary project area containing 115 miles of road-right-of-way proposed for inventory while Portage Bay and Tonka are additive items that will be quoted separately and will be included depending on budget. Portage Bay and Tonka will require non conventional modes of transportation to and from the survey areas. Kake - an estimated 6 miles of state, local, and Native maintained roakd right-of way proposed for inventory. There are an additional 109 miles of Forest Service maintained road right-of-way proposed for inventory. Portage Bay - an estimated 54 miles of Forest Service maintained road right-of-way proposed for inventory. The Portage Bay area is an additive item and will be quoted separately. Tonka - an estimated 51 miles of Forest Service maintained road right-of-way proposed for inventory. The Tonka area is an additive item and will be quoted separately. Surveys will be made by driving, biking, or walking access roads, and by ocular estimate when determining the extent of infestations that extend beyond the road right-of-way, on both Forest Service managed lands and non-Forest Service lands. Estimated price range is between $25,000 and $99,999. All responsible sources may submit a quote which will be considered. The request for quote package will be posted to FedBizOpps on or about 17 May 2006 for viewing and printing. Quotes will be due approximately 29 May 2006.
