Description

THIS IS A SOLE SOURCE SYNOPSISThe 45th Contracting Squadron has a sole source requirement of a Caterpillar Engine, diesel, 16 cylinder, 4210 cu in, 1800 rpm, 1467 hp. This is a replacement engine for a Caterpillar generator set. The generator operates in parallel with four other existing Caterpillar generators. The configuration of the engine must be identical to Caterpillar 3516 serial number 25Z04431. Purchase of the engine is to include removal of the existing engine, instillation of new engine, start up service per manufacturer specifications and follow-on warranty service. Installation must be complete by 30 Jun 2006. This is a Sole Source with Ring Power Corporation IAW FAR 6.302-1. Ring Power Corporation is the only source capable of fulfilling the government?s requirement. The Caterpillar engine required must be configured exactly as the engine being replaced. This configuration is identified only by the caterpillar serial number and is only known to Caterpillar. The generator set is one of four generators operating in parallel controlled by a computerized Programmable Logic Controller and must be identical for proper operation. Ring Power Corporation is the North Florida Caterpillar engine-only dealer. No solicitation documents exist at this time. This item/service utilizes Standard Industrial Code (SIC) 3519 with a business size of 1000 and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 333618. Interested firms may identify their capability to respond to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, the government will consider any responses from capable sources received within 10 days after date of publication of this synopsis. 45 CONS/LGCZ has determined that Ring Power Corporation is the only source capable of providing this requirement.
