Description

The National Institutes of Health intends to procure the following services from HWS Enterprises, from San Francisco, CA, 1. The contractor shall have expert knowledge in how to develop management skill courses for scientist to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This knowledge shall enable tenure-track investigators to achieve success in becoming tenured, and to enable senior investigators to manage the increased complexities of modern biomedical research. 2. The contractor shall develop and run a management skills course specifically oriented to scientists, and the course shall be presented by individuals experienced with the issues that scientists have and whom scientists will find credible. 3. The contractor shall provide the necessary objectives, to include but shall not be limited to the following: Shall provide assessments of management styles, through the use of those standard tests useful for scientific leadership - 360 Skill Scope, Myers Briggs Type Inventory and Thomas-Killman Conflict Inventory. Shall provide assessment of leadership skills and self-knowledge. Shall provide training in time management. Shall provide training in conflict resolution. Shall provide training in getting the best from teams. Shall provide training in decision making. Shall provide training in motivating others. Shall provide identification and development of a plan for goal setting. 4. The contractor shall possess the necessary skills and qualification, to include but shall not be limited to the following: Shall possess knowledge of the theory and practice of education in management skills. Shall demonstrate experience in development of a specific program appropriate for scientists. Shall demonstrate expertise in facilitation of the program with scientists. Shall possess extensive and demonstrated expertise in program evaluation and follow-up design. Shall demonstrate experience in design of the program in collaboration with the sponsors. 5. The contractor shall deliver thirty (30) copies of testing materials one month prior to training, to the Project Officer, Office of Intramural Research, OD. 6. The contractor shall begin training in April, 2006, and final evaluations and consultations shall be completed by May 31, 2006. 7. The contractor shall agree to hold in confidence any proprietary information gained, and contractor shall agree that all materials developed and used are owned by NIH. 8. The contractor shall agree that materials may not be adapted without the express written permission of the contractor. 9. The contractor shall assure that the quality of the course presentation and materials is sufficiently high to achieve the desired results. 10. The contractor shall deliver after the training is completed, five (5) hard copies, along with a copy on a PC-compatible disk in WordPerfect or MS Word, of the final program evaluation and follow-up design, to the Project Officer, Officer of Intramural Research, OD. 11. The government will be responsible for the following: All costs associated with the logistics of the meeting. Facilitating pre-session logistics with the participants, including ensuring their completion of the testing material. 12. The period of performance shall begin immediately after award, and continue through July 13, 2006.
