Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District in Portland, Oregon intends to solicit and award a requirements contract for provision of the following: preparation of drawings, and data to supply labor, material and equipment required to repair and refurbish main (turbine) and generator guide bearings and thrust bearings at The Dalles Lock and Dam and John Day Lock and Dam. Provide shipment from the Dalles Dam, repair, test and inspect, paint, prepare for return shipment and appurtenances for th e John Day Dam Powerhouses (Oregon/Washington) main hydroelectric vertical hydraulic turbines. Provide shipment from John Day Dam, repair, test and inspect, prepare for return shipment, and deliver one 50 inch diameter set of twelve segmented upper gener ator guide bearing shoes and appurtenances for the John Day Powerhouses (Oregon/Washington) main hydroelectric vertical generators. Provide shipment from the Dalles Dam, repair, test and inspect prepare for shipment and deliver certain thrust bearing com ponents and appurtenances for The Dalles Powerhouses (Oregon/Washington) main hydroelectric vertical generators. Thrust bearing work will be purchased through task orders, which will identify the specific line items for any of the following components: a set of thrust shoes, the rotating ring (thrust runner), or the thrust block (collar). Each set of thrust shoes consists of twelve thrust bearing approximately 35 long, 24  Wide (at OD), 9 ? wide (at ID), 3 thick, and weighing about 550 lbs each. T hrust shoe work may consist of re-machining the bottom surface, re-babbitting and machining the rubbing surface, or both. Each rotating ring (thrust runner) consists of two halves of a split rotating ring, the keys and the fasteners. The rotating ring ha s an outside diameter of about 114, an inside diameter of about 43.5, a thickness of about 7 and weight of approximately 17,200 lbs. Rotating ring work may consist of round-trip shipping, re-machining the rubbing surface, re-machining the mounting surf ace, repairing the contacting surfaces at the split face, replacing the keys and other hardware, or any combination of these line items. The thrust block (collar) is a one-piece steel casting, roughly conical in overall shape, with a height of 80 ? inche s, an outside diameter of 122 ? and a weight of 35 tons. Thrust block work includes re-machining the mounting surface for the rotating ring to remove fret damage and restore perpendicularity with respect to the turbine shaft. ISO 9001:2000 certification is required. Period of performance is 31 May 2006 or date of award if subsequent thereto, through 31 May 2007 for the base period and one option year with consecutive dates. This synopsis is for a commercial item supply prepared in accordance with the f ormat in FAR Part 12, 13.5 and the most recent FAC, supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
