- SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS. Anniston Army Depot is seeking companies who have the capability to provide Sandblast Coveralls. Material shall be a vinyl coated fabric complying with the following requirements.The base fabric shall have a weave in the ra nge of 74 x 74 x 80 x 80 and made of preshrunk cotton. The coating material shall be a polyvinyl chloride polymer applied to one (1) surface in such a manner as to impregnate the individual threads without striking through to the reverse surface. The fini shed material shall be immediately self extinguishing (Fire Retardant). The thickness of the material shall be .020, plus or minus .002. It is a critical requirement that the coating material be straight polyvinyl polymer in order to provide the necessary abrasion resistance at any time and flexibility of the material at temperatures below 35 degrees F. The suit shall be a one piece coverall. To provide maximum protection for the operator, the front of the coverall shall be in one piece unbroken surface. To provide this solid panel, the zipper shall be moved to the left edge of the front panel. The zipper shall be a nonseperating #6 chain, 26 long zipper covered with a flap. There will be reinforced patches of same material to the sleeves, upper legs and chest. Sleeve piece 6 x 15 centered over elbow, upper leg pieces from crotch 18 down front half fro m seam to seam. Chest piece from waistline 12 up from seam to seam in front. Polyester thread shall be used in all stitching and the stitching used in attaching the reinforcing patches and all seams shall be protected by applying a strip of unsupported p lactic film identical to that used in the coating of the has fabric. This film shall be a minimum of 5/8 wide and shall be centered over the stitching in question after which it is to be electronically sealed to the base fabric with a sealing die in minim um 7/8 wide to protect stitching from abrasion of the sandblast and leakage of sand dust through the seams. Provision shall be made in the back center at the belt line to permit the use of a ventilation system. This hole shall be 5/8 in diameter with a flap sewn and sealed above the hole to protect the interior when the ventilation system is not used, but to give access when needed. Two snap fasteners shall be installed at the bottom of the flap to secure it to the coverall when the ventilation is not us ed.
