Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, WRD, Office of Ground Water, Branch of Geophysis in Storrs, CT intends to award a sole source non-competitive procurement to Micron Optics, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia to lease/purchase an optic fiber temperature monitoring system control unit. The temperature monitoring system consists of a control unit and fiber optic cables that can be positioned on land, under water, or in boreholes at locations with a temperature resolution of 0.25 degrees Celcius, capable of collecting up to 4 km of data using fiber optic cables with lengths of up to two kilometers. Sampling time is under 5 minutes. The spatial resolution is no more than 1 meter. The desired delivery date is on or before May 15, 2006. THIS ANOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. NO FORMAL RFQ WILL BE AVAILABLE. The anticipated award date is 03/20/2006, under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $100,000.00. The NAICS code is 333314. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition.
