Description
The United States Marine Corps seeks to improve the area in and around the Loader?s Weapon Station of the M1A1 Main Battle Tank through the addition of required modifications, resulting in reduced crew exposure, and increasing accuracy during firing of the secondary weapons. Improvements will be semi-permanently attached to the M1A1 Main Battle Tank, and will provide for hasty removal and installation as mission needs dictate. The USMC is interested in any vendor that can adapt existing hardware to the Loader?s Weapon Station area while simultaneously achieving the requirements of reduced crew member exposure to enemy fire, and increasing accuracy during firing of the weapon, without degrading other functions required by the crew. A fully functional M1A1 Tank, with other agreed upon Government Furnished Equipment would be provided to support an evaluation of prospective vendors? products. It is important to note to any prospective vendor that the USMC is not interested in any development of the assembly itself or associated control assemblies, wiring harnesses, etc. Our interest extends only to the addition of existing mounting mechanisms/protective hardware that will allow the crew to perform their mission more safely and effectively. All vendors having the capability of meeting these requirements are requested to submit copies of relevant documentation in response to this Request for Information at no cost to the Government. Written responses should be submitted not later than close of business 30 March 2006. Firms should also include literature, brochures, and capabilities summaries directly addressing their ability to meet the aforementioned needs. The submission of the product information should not be construed as a commitment to procure equipment. The Government will not pay for any information submitted. No telephonic responses will be accepted. Responses should be submitted to the contact person listed above at Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, ATTN CTQ, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134. THE SUBMISSION OF THIS INFORMATION IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PROCURE ANY ITEMS/SERVICES, NOR FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE! INFORMATION RECEIVED.
