Description
P4R1 Loopback Test Capability (22 Feb 06) Range Instrumentation Systems Squadron, Air Combat Support Systems Group, Air Armament Center (AAC), Eglin Air Force Base (AFB), Florida, plans to award a sole source contract to DRS Technologies Inc. (DRS), 645 Anchors Street, Ft. Walton Beach FL 32548, to improve the current P4R1 pod Advanced Digital Interface Unit?s (ADIU) ability to detect internal 1553 communication abnormalities during built-in-test (BIT). Currently the ADIU design masks operational problems and precludes collection of mission data to support critical air combat training. This award will result in a pre-mission test capability to ensure the pod?s internal 1553 communications interface is functioning properly prior to loading the pod on an aircraft. This effort is being called P4R1 Loopback Test Capability. It is anticipated that approximately eleven (11) loopback test kits will be needed for delivery to ten (10) CONUS locations. Delivery requirements also include initial kit verification and an associated Technical Data Package. The P4R1 pod was designed and manufactured by DRS. The Government does not own the pod internal interface drawings, the ADIU drawings or the resident ADIU software code. Availability of these assets will be essential to a cost-effective solution to provide the required loopback test capability. Due to DRS?s ownership of these assets, and their detailed design, manufacturing and operational knowledge of the P4R1 ADIU, DRS is uniquely capable of meeting the Government?s technical requirements in a timely manner within the limited funding available for this effort. Matters of a routine or administrative nature concerning this acquisition should be addressed to the Contracting Officer, Mrs. Karen S. Turner, karen.turner@eglin.af.mil , telephone (850) 883-3404, FAX (850) 883-3226. or Contacting Specialist, Erik Urban, erik.urban@eglin.af.mil, telephone (850) 883-3420. Technical questions should be directed to the Program Manager, SMSgt Michael Bennett, michael.bennett@eglin.af.mil, telephone (850) 883-3416. Notes 22 and 26 apply.
