Description
This is Modification 4 to the synopsis entitled TEAMING OPPORTUNITY FOR NASA KSC TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OFFICE, which was posted on February 2, 2006. You are notified that Technology Area 8 entitled "Leak Detection System for Space Equipment? is hereby added: ?7) Leak Detection System for Space Equipment NASA KSC is currently seeking partner(s) to collaborate in the development and field testing of a prototype leak-detection scheme for use in space environments. The leak-detection system must work in space and detect leaks from outside the vehicle. The leak-detection system must detect any type of gas, such as refrigerants, propellants, and cabin air. Background: The International Space Station (ISS) has had multiple issues arising from leaks. The current protocol for detecting leaks on the ISS is to close each of the modules one by one, and then determine which module has a leak by the subsequent change in air cabin pressure. This is a laborious and time consuming process. As NASA's exploration plans are formulated, leak detection in space will be vital for successful missions. Leakage of refrigerants, propellants or cabin air can cause life threatening situations. Qualifying partners must have experience in Leak Detection Instrumentation and Aerospace Equipment Manufacturing.? ***************************************************************************************** ***************************************** The due date for responses remains unchanged as February 24, 2006. Documents related to this teaming opportunity will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
